URS Burgers

I'm squeamish when it comes time for people to mess up. Even famous, rich people. I don’t watch award shows (the awkward speeches!), and talk shows make me cringe…James Frey getting destroyed by Oprah, Tom Cruise and the couch jumping incident. But I don’t feel that bad for Chef Robert Irving. He is the recently ousted Food Network host who fabricated his resume.

Last summer Chef Robert and I met face to face in Lake Tahoe. Thanks to Pamazing (the win that keeps on giving), I was asked to be a Grilling Expert on Dinner Impossible. But “Chef” was having none of it. He kept me from approaching the live flames, and pulled a bottle from my hand to take over a marinade when the cameras approached. When I grilled up some fennel, he commandeered that too(although he made a really yummy salad with it). My best line on the show came when I faced one of the particularly friendly camera men, and exasperated, told him “that was my idea!”

There is nothing worse than someone who won’t share the credit. My mom says that the sign of a mature professional is that he or she will take all the blame when something goes wrong; and none of the credit when it goes right. When a person has all the power and doesn't do that, there's gotta be something wrong.

I guess I do sort of feel bad for the guy.
