I’m reading Amy Sutherland’s “Cook-Off America” and the craziest thing about it is that all the things I used to be so sneaky about doing: entering recipes under family members’ names, creating recipes in my head but not testing them on the stove, playing cucumber-cool and extra-friendly at cook-offs (but raging with competitive spirit underneath)—all this is normal! Normal…it’s so mid-America. And since I already live in mid-America, normal must be mitigated. From here on out, I’m returning to contesting ethics. No more guest entries, no more non-testing and most of all, nothing but love for those honest competitive feelings.
Hellmann’s Super Bowl Theme Party Contest

The Prize: An ultimate Super Bowl party at the winner’s home (or at a location mutually-agreed upon between Sponsor and winner) on February 3, 2008 for winner and up to 100 guests. Party includes food, drink ,decorations, invitations, entertainment, and any other elements if agreed upon by Sponsor and winner.
Judging Criteria: Best Overall Concept - 40%; Most Creative Concept - 30%; and Relevance to Big Game Party Concept - 30%.
The Entry: “Down with Helmet Head” Spa Super Bowl
Description: Touchdown, touch-up! Gussy up your glamour with hair, nails and body at a spa-themed Super Bowl bash. While the players get grimy on the field, you’ll “get glowing” in the beautician’s chair. Not that the mud won’t fly. Nothing like a salon and a sports game to bring out the dirt-dishers. As quarters 1,2,3 and 4 are playing, you’ll get pampered just like the half-time star you always wanted to be. You might not sweat, but you’ll sure look good in a sweater.
