Prizes: One (1) grand prize winner will receive car service for dinner for two at Carrabba’s Las Vegas; two tickets to The Beatles “LOVE” show by Cirque du Soleil; two roundtrip airfare tickets to Las Vegas from the airport nearest winner’s home, and a stay at The Venetian (one double-occupancy room, two nights) with one gondola ride for two people. Trip to Las Vegas must be redeemed prior to December 15, 2008. Nine (9) runners-up will each receive Carrabba’s certificate for dinner for four, as well as an apron and signed cookbook.
Judging Criteria: Entries will be judged on overall story (effectively conveys role of food/dish in entrant’s life; incorporates love theme) (40%), originality and uniqueness (35%) and humor (25%).
The Entry: Marry me, Marinara. I’m sure there are plenty of other girls who have forked your noodles, layered your lasagna and poured over your pizza. But none of them can crush your tomatoes quite like me. I’ll wear basil in my hair and dab garlic behind each ear. I’ll swirl your rich tomato ribbons across my chicken parmesan; meatball sub; stuffed cannelloni. So marry me, Marinara Sauce. Without you, life is breadcrumb blandness and passionless pasta.
