The oven door fell off during our Chanukah party with Uncle K and The Teens. Luckily, Alex and Uncle K are creative geniuses and I buy packing tape at Costco. Within moments, the men had the tape unrolled and secured to the oven door. And to think, all these years I thought Jews couldn't fix things. Rooster is fast proving me wrong.
While Rooster waited for the taped together oven to cool down so he could break out the power drill, Uncle K got a massive splinter from our laminate flooring. It pierced his sock and lodged a full 1/4 centimeter into his foot. He was out for the count on the couch with 17-year-old Max working the tweezers.
Just as Max plucked out Uncle K's splinter (which we all admired), Rooster and the power drill triumphed. The oven door is screwed back on the oven. I tested it this afternoon with two trial batches of Betty Crocker Cookie Mix cookies and it survived. Kudos, Rooster! I think I'll keep you around.
