I felt the blues coming on strong this week and did what any reasonable woman would do. I went to the spa. My spa is a barebones, $20 admission, women’s-only place and sports a nap room. Sure, I could nap at home, but home has neither a eucalyptus steam room nor rainforest music piped in on surround sound.
Returned home still feeling bad though. There’s this new magazine, Jewish Living with all these fabulous food articles and lifestyle pieces that I wish I was writing for. Whenever I see something that I covet professionally, I get this fluttery sick feeling in my belly. As if time is just scrolling by and leaving me bereft, sucked deep into the 9 to 5 world. Professional envy will be my downfall.
Rooster picked up on my bummed out state and brought me a cookie in bed. On a plate. And I thought to myself, now really, who has a loving relationship and a perfect career? That’s got to be too much happiness for one person. If I had to give up one joy-fix in favor of another, the forfeit would not be my honey…
