Taste Traditions

I dreamed this recipe last night (with yams) and when I woke up it didn’t collapse into absurdity. Although in retrospect it is absurd.

The Rules: Entrants must submit a recipe for a dish that they consider to be an American Tradition. The winner of the Contest will be determined by judging all the entrants’ submissions based on the follow criteria: originality 25%, ease of preparation 25%, adherence to the American Tradition theme 25%, and taste 25%.

The Prize: Expense paid trip for two for a travel adventure from World Wide Country Tours.

The Entry: All American Pumpkin S'mores

1 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons condensed milk
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin spice
8 whole graham crackers
8 marshmallows
¼ cup apricot preserves

Break each graham cracker in half, arrange 8 halves on a broiler rack. Place 1 marshmallow on each cracker. Spread apricot preserves on remaining 8 graham cracker halves. In a bowl mix together canned pumpkin, condensed milk and pumpkin spice. Preheat boiler. Smear pumpkin on top of apricot-graham crackers. Arrange alongside marshmallow crackers on broiler tray. Broil until marshmallows are puffed and golden and pumpkin is hot. Sandwich marshmallow crackers and pumpkin crackers together. Serve for dessert. Serves 4.
