Just when I was beginning to feel like a dud Chicken, word arrived that a multi-attachment Kitchen Machine, 1st prize in the Pacific soup contest, would be delivered via UPS to my mother-in-law’s doorstep. She and I had entered going for the grand prize, a kitchen makeover, but alas, some other contester beat us to it. Rooster of course is skeptical that his mother will even use the machine, but I tell him, hey man, one day we’re going to leave our future children with your mother for an indeterminately long stay and an $899 Kitchen Machine that makes crushed ice, milkshakes and pizza dough is going to save her sanity. What about our sanity? Oh, Rooster, that fled long, long ago.

PACIFIC CREATIONS RECIPE COMPETITION

The Rules: Create an original and delicious recipe that minimizes your time in the kitchen and uses Pacific’s line of all natural and organic soups and broths.

The Prize: Grand prize- A Kitchen Makeover including a suite of high efficiency Bosch appliances and environmentally friendly, home-healthy custom cabinets from Neil Kelly Cabinets. First prize- Bosch Concept Series Kitchen Machine, approximate retail value $899.99. Second prize- Bosch Hand Blender, approximate retail value $34.99.

The Entry: Can’t post it for legal reasons, but the concept is chicken enchiladas smothered in butternut squash soup rather than enchilada sauce.
