Baby Food Tip: Beets

Three days till the fundraising Gala is over and done with and I get my life back!!!!!!!! Post June 5th, baby food tips might actually come in the form of real recipes instead of "how to open a package" instructions...

Baby Food Tip #2: Beets
12 months +

Don't you dare cook these yourself. Get yourself to Trader Joe's. Buy the steamed and peeled ready-to-eat baby beets. Cut open the package. Cut beets into pieces. Put a bib on your child and serve. Nitrates, what nitrates?

Benefits:
  • Easy to keep in the house.
  • Require no cooking.
  • From Whole Foods website: "These colorful root vegetables contain powerful nutrient compounds that help protect against heart disease, birth defects and certain cancers, especially colon cancer." Ambitious for a baby, no?

Kale Cubes are coming, I promise.

Baby Bird loves her beets. Yesterday, she even asked for them by name! She was like: "beets... beets... beets? ... yeah, beets."
