Redwood Creek Prep

My nerves are all a flutter. Tonight, testing out my Redwood Creek recipe for the cook-off this Saturday, Rooster was all like, ummm...shouldn't this have some protein in it? And I was like, NO. It should not. It is a campfire cooking contest. You can't backpack raw chicken into the wild. He was like, what about car camping?

An interesting point.

But when I devised my Redwood Creek recipe, I was thinking unexpireables! Cram it in an oversized backpack with your tent poles and don't worry about refrigeration! I was also thinking about my vegetarian sister who was over for dinner the night Full Moon Fettucine with Wild Rosemary and Morels was born. She doesn't do well with non-cheese protein products.

No dead flesh or not, the recipe has great flavor. And if you are a creative outdoor cook, you could easily toss in some smoked chicken, fresh fish or filet mignon. Rooster, by the way, spent the rest of the evening atoning for his protein comment by fetching me whatever I wanted to drink and repeating words of endearment over and over. I'm thinking about forgiving him.
