Lazy Gourmet Lift-Off

It's the Jewish New Year and time for a new project. The Mom of the Chicken finally completed her magnum opus: The Lazy Gourmet, also known as the best cookbook ever. For the next few months, I'll be testing and photographing all her lazy, fabulous recipes.

Mom was a full time lawyer my whole life and she retired three years ago. In between attending French book groups and conversation classes, she learned to quilt, volunteers for Obama, and works as a part time mediator. I don't know how she had time to also write a cookbook, but she did.

Mom's cooking style is pure lazy, pure gourmet and 100% shareable. Her best, lazy, tasty recipes-- tested over 35 years of serious cooking-- are distilled into The Lazy Gourmet. My role in the cookbook? I wrote some stuff. Nothing major: pre-recipe blurbs, the intro, helped a little bit with recipe editing.  Now my real role has emerged. I'm testing all her recipes and photographing them for publication.

So while I haven't abandoned contesting, for now my culinary project is The Lazy Gourmet. Hence the new Blog theme. Think of it like Julie & Julia, but featuring The Chicken and the woman who created her.
