French Fry This

What to take away from this contest: Just because you made it doesn't mean you want to eat it.

The Assignment: Whatever your recipe, if you think it is tasty enough, join the ranks of the French’s® Original Green Bean Casserole in holiday history, then please enter. Entering is easy! In 50 words or less describe your recipe using French’s Original or French’s Cheddar French Fried Onions. French Fried Onions should be used as an ingredient, topping, or as your special way of adding crunch and flavor.

The Prize: A prize basket “Kitchen Kit” approximate value $500

The Entry: “Thick soups warm in winter, but thickening soups take work—unless you’ve got French’s. For a cheddary kick in caliente “No Tortilla Tortilla Soup,” sauté onions with taco seasoning and Cheddar French Fried Onions. Add favorite Mexican ingredients, chicken stock and garnish with sprightly Cheddar French Fried Onions. Delicious!”

No-Tortilla-Tortilla-Soup

*2-tablespoons corn oil
*½ cup chopped onion
*1-tablespoon taco seasoning
*2 ½ cups French’s Cheddar French Fried Onions
*1 fourteen-ounce can diced tomatoes in juice
*2 fifteen-ounce cans chicken stock
*1 cup canned corn (drained)
*1 cup canned black beans (drained)
*2 smoked sausages, diced
*¼ cup chopped cilantro
*2 tablespoons Frank’s Hot Sauce
*Salt and pepper to taste

1. Heat oil in a heavy pot. Sauté onions over medium-high heat until edges just begin to turn golden, about 3 minutes. Add taco seasoning and stir.
Add 1 ½ cups French’s Cheddar French Fried Onions and stir vigorously. Cook for two minutes.

2. Add diced tomatoes, stock, corn, black beans and sausage. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Turn off heat. Stir in cilantro, hot sauce, salt and pepper.

3.Serve in large bowls with ¼ cup French’s Cheddar French Fried Onions heaped on top.
